Releasing & Renewing an IP address

Windows 10:

  • Right Click Start
  • Click Run
  • Type "CMD"
  • Click OK
  • Type "ipconfig /all"    (Displays the IP address)
  • Type "ipconfig /release"    (Releases the IP address to 0.0.0.0)
  • Type "ipconfig /renew"    (Renews the IP address)

macOS:

  • Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.
  • In the list at the left, select the network service that needs a renewed IP address.
  • Click Advanced, click TCP/IP, then click Renew DHCP Lease.
